Elk Grove Library Is Getting Ready To Move
The Gist: Sacramento Public Library is preparing the Elk Grove branch for its move into the new location at 9260 Elk Grove Boulevard. The new building is expected to bring more room for children, teens, community gatherings, study space, a makerspace, and a Library of Things collection.
Why It Matters: The library has always been one of Old Town’s community anchors. A larger, updated space gives families, students, readers, and neighbors more room to actually use it.
Free Pet Adoptions Continue Through July
The Gist: Elk Grove Animal Shelter is continuing National Adoption Week as part of its “250 Adoptions for America’s 250th” campaign. The shelter is working toward 250 pet adoptions during July, with free adoptions offered during the July 21 to July 26 adoption week.
Why It Matters: This is a simple, happy local push with a real outcome attached. More pets get homes, more families meet their next companion, and the shelter gets a big community boost.
A Brick-Walled Old Town Dinner

Brick House Restaurant & Lounge has that comfortable Old Town feel where dinner can turn into drinks, conversation, and maybe a little live music if the timing is right. The restaurant serves Italian-American food, offers catering, and has a full bar with a covered and heated patio available seasonally.

Elk Grove Fine Arts Center is one of those places that gives Old Town more texture. The nonprofit art center hosts exhibitions, classes, public receptions, and community events that make local art feel approachable instead of tucked away somewhere formal.
The center is open weekly in Historic Old Town, with member exhibitions, rotating shows, and opportunities for artists to display work. Its public receptions are especially nice if you want an easy way to meet local artists and see what people around town are making.
A good reminder that Elk Grove’s creative side has a front door.
