A New Sutter Clinic Opens On Elk Grove Boulevard
The Gist: Sutter Health opened its new 10,500-square-foot Elk Grove Primary Care Center at 8427 Elk Grove Blvd. on July 29. The center includes eight primary care clinicians, an on-site laboratory, and integrated behavioral health services, and Sutter expects it to expand primary care access for roughly 16,000 additional patients.
Why It Matters: More local appointments mean fewer reasons to leave Elk Grove for everyday care. The new center is also the first of three Sutter facilities scheduled to open in the city this year.
What’s Next: An urgent care and diagnostic imaging center is expected in October, followed by a 56,000-square-foot multispecialty center in December.
Elk Grove Park’s Next 20 Years Are Taking Shape
The Gist: Cosumnes CSD has released the draft Elk Grove Park Master Plan, outlining a long-term vision for the park over the next 20-plus years. Ideas include updated aging facilities, stronger tree-canopy preservation, improved walking and driving routes, recreation upgrades, and a potential future East Elk Grove Community Center. Residents can comment on the draft through August 24.
Why It Matters: Elk Grove Park is one of the city’s biggest gathering places, from weekend sports to major festivals. Decisions being made now could shape how families use it for decades.
Brick-Oven Pizza With Elk Grove Roots

Old Town Pizza & Tap House opened in 2012 after husband-and-wife team Jamie Dougherty and David Smith took over a pizza restaurant they had grown up visiting in Elk Grove. The idea was simple: make it casual, keep it local, and give people somewhere to share pizza and a pint.
The dough is made fresh daily, tossed by hand, loaded with fresh ingredients, and baked in a brick oven. The Old School goes with olive oil, garlic, oregano, feta, tomatoes, and basil, while the Vege Out piles spinach, mushrooms, olives, onions, artichoke hearts, and tomatoes over red sauce. Hot wings and 18 rotating taps round things out nicely.
Seventy-Seven Years On Wheels

King’s Skate Country has been part of Elk Grove since Lester and Velma King opened the rink in December 1948. What began as Lester’s dream of giving local children somewhere to skate grew into a year-round community gathering place that has lasted through generations of Elk Grove families.
The rink welcomes beginners and experienced skaters alike, with skate rentals, themed nights, parties, competitions, concessions, and even Paddle Tag for anyone who wants to add a little chaos to their laps.
There are newer ways to spend an afternoon around town. Few come with this much Elk Grove history.
