Welcome to the weekend preview, Elk Grove. We love hearing your feedback on these updates, and it is clear that this community cares deeply about where we are headed. This week we are diving into a major $450 million vision for our local infrastructure, parks, and community spaces that will shape our neighborhood through 2031.

But if you are just looking for a relaxing Sunday morning reset closer to the present moment, we also know exactly where to find the best crepes and sparkling wine in town. Everything you need to know is waiting for you below.

Elk Grove Charts a Bold $450M Vision for Roads, Trails, and Community Spaces

The Gist: The City Council reviewed a proposed five-year, $450 million Capital Improvement Program covering 97 projects, including a new Highway 99 interchange, regional trails, a permanent homeless shelter, and a new library. Only 67.5% of the funding is secured, with $146 million still depending on future grants and financing.
Why It Matters: These projects will shape how residents commute, access services, and use public space through 2031.
What's Next: The new Elk Grove Library is nearing completion, with a grand opening expected this fall.
Elk Grove Plans a New $65.5M Operations Hub to Keep Pace With City Growth
The Gist: The City Council heard a recommendation to build a new public works corporation yard at 9255 Disposal Lane, replacing the cramped, aging facility on Iron Rock Way. At $65.5 million, the new site costs just $1.5 million more than renovation but delivers far better capacity for fleet, storage, and emergency operations through 2050.
Why It Matters: A purpose-built operations hub means faster road repairs, stronger emergency response, and an infrastructure team ready for Elk Grove's continued growth.

An Old Town Dinner Worth Planning

8941 Elk Grove Blvd, Elk Grove, CA
Boulevard Bistro has the kind of Old Town presence that makes a dinner feel intentional before the first plate even lands. Chef Brett opened the restaurant on Valentine’s Day in 2006, and the setting still feels like a proper night out, polished, intimate, and tucked into the heart of Elk Grove Boulevard.
The menu leans New American, with dishes that feel a little more special than the usual weeknight rotation. Think duck confit with black pepper thyme waffle, grilled swordfish with roasted cauliflower, and the kind of seasonal cooking that gives you a reason to slow down.

A Bookstore That Feels Like Home

9257 Laguna Springs Dr, Suite 130, Elk Grove, CA
A Seat at the Table Books is more than a bookstore with a cafe attached. It is a family-owned “third space” built around books, coffee, community events, and the very Elk Grove idea that everyone should be able to find something that reflects them.
The shelves are curated with representation in mind, and the space regularly hosts readings, workshops, meetups, and creative gatherings. It is the kind of place where you can stop in for a book and end up staying because the room feels alive.
For a city as diverse and family-centered as Elk Grove, this spot fits the moment.
Skip the Resort. Stay in a Centuries-Old Sicilian Village Instead.
Casa Gratteri offers beautifully restored homes in Gratteri, a hidden mountain town in Sicily with sweeping views, deep history, and zero crowds. Full concierge service, a private chef on request, and modern finishes throughout. This is the kind of trip people talk about for the rest of their lives.
