Elk Grove Senior Center Eyes Expansion

The Gist: Elk Grove's new public library is open at 9260 Elk Grove Blvd. The single-story, 18,147-square-foot space offers study rooms, a quiet reading room, expanded parking and a book locker for after-hours pickups.
Why It Matters: Cardholders can now check out household equipment for free through the new Library of Things collection.

Gai 'N Rice is a family-owned Thai chicken-and-rice restaurant in Elk Grove. Jasmine rice from Thailand is cooked fresh daily, with classic chicken rice among the menu's favorites. If you're picking up dinner, the Elk Grove location closes at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Its treehouse-style climbing structure has a blue double slide, with a hollow-log tunnel below for smaller adventures.
