Elk Grove Startup Scene Hits New Heights with Pitch Competition

🚀 Pitch Elk Grove breaks records

The Gist: The fifth annual Pitch Elk Grove competition drew a record 309 people and 109 applications on September 3rd at the Community Center. Krokos Bio from Davis won the $10,000 grand prize for growing high-value botanicals like saffron through plant cell culture. Local standout Insta Brow, a patent-pending brow stain pen company, took both second place and the Best Elk Grove Startup award, marking the first time any company has won two prizes in the event's history.

Why It Matters: This shows Elk Grove is becoming a real hub for startup innovation and investment in our region.

🚚 Police Recover stolen Tesla haul worth $170K

The Gist: A semi-truck trailer loaded with $170,000 in Tesla materials was stolen and reported to the California Highway Patrol last week. Elk Grove detectives tracked it down thanks to tips from law enforcement partners and recovered the vehicle and all its contents. The total recovery exceeded $240,000 in stolen goods.

Why It Matters: It's a solid reminder that our local police work with regional partners to catch thieves and recover stolen property, keeping our community safer.
